The art of the rack

The part of the home no guest ever sees, engineered with the same care as the rooms they do. A network built to disappear — silent, ordered, and utterly dependable.

The network

A backbone built to disappear

The best network is the one you forget exists. Enterprise Netgear switching and Wi-Fi, specified with precision and laid down with care, so bandwidth is never the thing standing between you and a seamless home.

Enterprise switching sized for the whole estate
Seamless Wi-Fi across every wing and outbuilding
Isolated networks for family, guests and systems

The rack

Order you can see, reliability you can't

A cabinet of neatly dressed Excel cabling isn't vanity — it's how a system stays dependable for decades. Ordered cabling runs cooler, faults faster to trace, and welcomes every future upgrade without a tangle. We build the rack as if it will be photographed, because the discipline shows in how the home behaves.

Dressed and labelled to a single, exacting standard

Everything you need to know about the network and cabling that carries your home.

Because everything you do see depends on it. Lighting scenes, films, music, control — all of it travels the network and the cabling beneath the house. When that foundation is engineered with precision, the home simply works; when it isn't, no amount of polish above it will hide the faults. We build the part no guest sees to the same standard as the rooms they do.

Both. New builds give us the freedom to design cabling routes and rack locations from first principles, and that's ideal. But we regularly upgrade the infrastructure in established homes too, working around what's there and minimising disruption. We assess your property, then design an approach that fits it — whether that's a full re-cable or a considered enhancement of what you already have.

They're three layers of one foundation. Excel structured cabling is the physical backbone laid through the building; Netgear switching and Wi-Fi carry the data across it; and Savant sits above them both, unifying every system into a single interface. Each is specified to work as part of the whole, not bolted together after the fact.

Your home keeps working. The infrastructure is built so that lighting, climate and control run on the local network, independent of the outside line. An internet outage may interrupt streaming or remote access, but the house itself continues to respond exactly as it should — because the intelligence lives inside the home, not in the cloud.

That's precisely what it's designed for. We specify cabling and network capacity well beyond today's requirements, with headroom and documentation that let the home evolve without being torn open again. Adding a wing, a cinema or a second-home connection becomes a matter of building on the foundation, not replacing it — and we remain on hand to do exactly that.
